Weather-induced variability of country-scale space heating demand under different refurbishment scenarios for residential buildings

چکیده

The decarbonisation of residential heat through integration with the power system and deployment refurbishment policies is at core European energy policies. Yet, heat-electricity may be challenged, in practice, by large variability demand across weather years. Current approaches for simulation fail to provide insights about extent such many years benefits potentially brought nearly zero-energy buildings. To fill this gap, work develops an open-source space-heating workflow that applicable any country's building stock. workflow, based on a well-established lumped-parameter thermodynamic model, allows capturing sub-national weather-year mitigation effects refurbishment. For Italy, different lead variations up 2 TWh/day, lasting several days. Moreover, some regimes produce spatial asymmetries further complicate integration. 55% buildings constructed before 1975 could substantially mitigate oscillations, leading 31–37% reduction yearly demand, primarily colder regions. Intra-day variations, driven user behaviour, are not impacted refurbishment, calling simultaneous flexible generating technologies.

Driving factors for occupant-controlled space heating in residential buildings

Occupant behaviour has a large impact on the energy consumption of buildings, and therefore a better understanding can assist in many building-related applications, such as facility management, building performance simulation and occupant guidance. As occupant space-heating operation has a significant influence on the energy consumption of residential buildings in winter, an investigation of dr...

Modeling Housing Demand for New Residential Buildings in Urban Areas

T his study investigates the factors affecting the demand for new residential buildings in urban areas of Iran during 1976-2010. The demand function for new residential buildings in urban areas was estimated and then the existence of a long-run relationship among variables of this function was studied using the Bounds testing of the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Co-integration procedure. The t...

Demand Response and Energy Storage for Zero Energy Residential Buildings

The EU climate and energy targets and the decreasing costs have been leading to a growing utilization of solar photovoltaic generation in residential buildings. However, even in buildings with the same level of yearly generation and consumption the mismatch between the demand and the photovoltaic generation profiles leads to high power flows between the household and the grid, which is an ineff...
